Crossbow
I'm looking for recommendations.

What should I be looking for? Pros and Cons? I don't have thousands to spend and would prefer in the £250-£350 marker.

I will be blunt though. It is for two purposes. Hunting Montjack deer- we have a glut of them around here. And defense against humans when my life is at risk.

Ideas please

RE: Crossbow
if I was looking for a full sized(i'm assuming you meant a full sized one) i'd go for a simple recurve bow like this: Armex Jaguar/Firecat 150LB draw 218ft per second £70 at:www.targetszone.co.uk

RE: Crossbow
at that price you could also get yourself one of the 80LB pistol crossbows too, at £30 its a steal!

I dunno how strong you are, but a few of my friends cant cock my 175lb jaguar, it's not exactly easy.

I'd reccomend the jaguar though, just buy plenty of extra bolts as one miss and its either gone or hit something hard and bent it.

I've fired mine at least 100times and its never missed a beat!

RE: Crossbow
I crippled myself two years ago cocking an 150 pound draw crossboe, I'm still getting medical help because of it, So I went over onto compound archery bows after SD introduced me to them AND I LOVE EM. I can easily do as much with a 40 pound compound bow as I can with a crossbow and i can put five times as many arrows as bolts downrange in any given time. X bows are still very useful to preppers but I now view them as the Heavy artilary of prepping.

Another one i would recommend is the chace wind crossbow,It's very similar to the Excalibur Vixen,You can also get it in 90lb and 150lb,looks like a really nice bow (thinking of getting one myself).
They're on a few sites,it has split limbs like higher end bows.Nice looking bit of kit for less than £120Wink

RE: Crossbow
Nice looking Crossbow, oddly enough I'll be calling into CB archery next month on my way back from taking my son to tech camp. I'm going to look at both the EZ compound bow and the Korean one piece horse bow.

RE: Crossbow
Thanks guys for all the recommendations

The armex jaguar 150lb seems a steal at the price and the pistol looks nice

Some of you have commented that it seems to take a lot of strength to pull it back
@NR did his back in. "What's a poor blonde girl to do" :-)

I guess I'll buy the 150lb one and see how it goes. I can always eBay it if my plans go TU

Get the pistol as well on the basis that if one of them there Trade Unionists come through the door
flashing his "Unite the Union" card, I can at least take NR's advice and shoot the f....r in the eyeball.
