Peak Oil.
article i just found on line, stating that oil peaked between 2004-2008, more importantly from a prepper point of view it says"ordinary families will ONLY be able to use their cars for an emergency WITHIN 10 years because of spirally fuel costs" -you have been warned, here's the link: http://www.publicserviceeurope.com/artic...o-disaster

Yup which merans the privately owned public transit system operators have got most people by the pubes and are going to twist them as hard as they can in the coming years. Cars priced off the roads means billions less in revenue to the govt so they will push up tax and fairs on public transport and naturally wil apply draconian security measures to keep the systems moving.

What an ingenious lovely plan all the sheeple confined to the metrolpolis's, roads only for the rich, powerful and military.Public transport kept expensive and strictly controlled. The rural communities for the ruling elite to buy nice country piles in, and us living in the greyness of the shadows.

yes, i agree all the above, but dont get fixated about fuel costs etc for a moment, if there is a SHORTAGE of oil-which is one reason for spiralling costs, how do this effect all those millions of PRODUCTS made from oil from medical products to fertiliser, surely that means there will be shortages of these products too??

Remember that in a totalitarian state of the type envisioned by so many socialists it wont matter how the food reaches the city, only those who toe the line will be allowed to buy in.

SHORTAGE of oil!!!!! Dont forget that just as greedy speculators like to drive up the price of oil to maximise profits today by keeping fully loaded super tankers parked up out the way, socialists can equally control its flow and availability, so not only can they retain control by price, but they can also set things up so only "approved" people can buy it. A ferkin good tool for keeping city dwelling sheeple in check.

the whole point of peak oil is that oil is a finite resort(whether you agree/disagree that we have reached peak oil) and at some point it WILL run out, gone, no more left, whether that is in our life times, it will be in your childs lifetime so think about it, no more oil means no more OIL BASED products, so what happens then, do you think the human race will be able to adapt to no oil? or do you think they will all go crazy and commit mass suicide??

Technically I should still be allowed in the line then as my job is "essential infrastructure." Unless we all discover a way of getting water for free..... wait...

Private cars will run on electrickery and biofuels. It will become more expensive but that is more down to us paying more taxes for everything anyway and the oil prices are just a fraction of what we pay.

BP, Thanks for your contribution. Preppers should teach their children old technology and the old ways of living. Going back to my childhood we had very little of what we have now. My mother taught me how they managed when she was a girl. By modern standards truly archaic. Kenneth Eames.

RE: Peak Oil.
There is still plenty of oil left, problem is twofold (A1) its costing more and more to extract it and refine it, then of course (A2) many westernised nations depend almost entirely on the revenue from oil and gas to fund its social welfare programs. (B) China and India etc and the far east in general is developing very fast and wanting an increased slice of the oil revenue.
