RE: Ref Ukraine
Chucle to myself, it at least proves the point that many people like myself who said the UKs emergency reserves of oil, gas and petrol which is supposed to be 90 days worth and held by the oil companies was wrong and inadequate.

Most of us older preppers who operated during the cold war strongly believe that we should have been keeping 180s reserves in government owned facilities on top of the oil companies stocks. Every other Western European country if I remember right keeps more reserves than we do.

Of course if we do suffer shortages and power cuts I guarantee you the loony left will start calling people who were prudent and wise enough to have back ups in place " Hoarders".

RE: Ref Ukraine
Barney there's a brief mention of the gas cut off threat in this sky report, its only one line near the bottom of the page but it does point out that Komrade Vlad could cause economic chaos in the west by turning off the gas.

http://news.sky.com/story/1219831/putin-...n-the-west

Now as for the idiots in the EU and UK and US who said closer ties and integration with Europe was a good thing, and Russia was no longer a threat please step forward so I can kick you in the nads.

OK folks lets learn from this developing situation, They have NOT yet turned off the gas, but I reckon within a few days we will know if there is a genuine risk of it happening ( trigger likely to be the west applying sanctions to Russia) so there is time left.

What plans or steps are you going to take to mitigate against being caught out?

RE: Ref Ukraine
At last - I've been monitoring this forum for the last week or so and seen virtually nothing about the Ukraine so thankfully peeps are waking up.

NR < I also am a bit of a news junkie and I haven't seem a note of any gas cut off threat. Having said that Russian has done that before. As someone else said, winter isn't over yet so fuel supplies for prepping are the key item today. I'm going out later to get some more.

The whole thing is about 'spheres of influence', fixed by Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill at Yalta. Russian lost a lot after Eastern Europe fell during Gorbachev and Yelstins reign and Putin is not going to allow any more.

My guess is that he will be allowed to take Crimea but warned about the rest of the Ukraine. The West will NOT go to war over this unless WE are directly threatened. However, hopefully Russia will pay a very heavy price for this economically (unless we want to be seen as complete pussies). I note that as of this morning, the Russian Rouble is being dumped. Whatever it is, its got to be more than just not attending the G8 meeting or cancelling the visas for a group of vetenarians.

It's also interesting to note the actions of the Russian troops in gaining control. Cutting off power to certain areas and controlling comms. In prepper terms we need to come to terms with this.

For now ......

From the BBC
"A full blown crisis in Ukraine would be a crisis on Europe's front doorstep not America's. In London and Berlin officials are already worrying about where the refugees might go”

I told you so. Please refer back to my article about Centralised Control.

Yup again refer to my article about centralised control, encourage, manipulate, con, force or drive the bulk of your sheeple into cities, add a healthy dose of impoverished migrants from varying cultures to keep jobs and wages in short supply. Then control the supply of electricity, gas, oil, water, food, medicines to the cities and bingo you have total control over the masses AND all that nice green space for yourself and your minions.

Barney it doesn't matter or bother anyone if you like it or not, what matters is you are intelligent enough to understand the clear threat to your families well being. Dunno if its a long or short term threat , but what is important to YOU Barney is what are you going to do to mitigate its effects if it happens on your family? Simples Smile

TBH I see no need for any of us to panic or get stressed about this, we can safely reduce and threats or inconvenience to us by taking a few simple precautionary steps now. Bit of extra grub, store some more firewood, get a couple more gas bottles etc

FUCK, I missed a very important issue, fuck, fuck, fuck. It appears most of our grain comes from the Ukraine !!!!, Total fuck up by me.

And the bottom of the article about grain also refers to them being able to cut off the oil and gas !!
