define a little while, if there is a mass die off though disease rats would be the last thing I'd consider eating as these thing will be feasting on corpses

say that I guessing that some people will be eating them solely due to the fact that they are starving

possibly could use the rat carcass to catch something better though. if near the coast maybe some crab, if inland whatever creatures scavenge at night.

I'm sure some of the less reputable takeaways on the big island have used rat, know one in Aberdeen was done for using seagull.

Suppose like Barneyboy says cook it well, should be edible.

Lol the seagull thing is a load of crap, they weren't prosecuted, they had actually closed for refurb (maybe by environmental health?? lol)

though they were never prosecuted.

BTW the last jimmy chungs in aberdeen burnt down a week or so ago!

Salt and spices makes anything edible, just look around any Asian market at some of the awful stuff they call food.

I'm cool with the idea.

Providing they're field based, even rats should be pretty okay, about 1 year after an event.

If you have barns and the alike around, it would make sense to clear out all the poison from them, then harvest the rats with a gun and traps. Well, that's an option I'm not getting rid of. Better to know how to do it before anything happens, than to learn the hard way.
