RE: Adding Camo to an Air Rifle
Have you ever tried to shoot while you're gun was all socked up?
It does make reloading fun!!

I was thinking of scope use as well, hehe.
For storage, the socks would be useful, but out in the field...I can't see it being of much use, except in travel. But you'd need to go without a scope too, as I don't think many gun socks would be of benefit to a nicely zeroed scope.

You guys really are fantastic at overcomplicating the simplest of things!
If you are in a situation where camo is necessary for you to successfully eat, it is time to get over the anal retentive whims and "just do it".
Just modify the sock to meet your needs. They are cheap enough to have one for every shooter you own. Trim the sock for access to the chamber for loading.
There are also camo tapes and wraps for use on scopes. Even camo duct tape, which I have used often.
I also find that a long strip of camo burlap wrapped spirally around the gun serves well for a simple fix. We have camo burlap available at most fabric stores and in large sheets at outdoor supply stores.
Then there is spray paint! Some of my best camo efforts involved spray paint and leaves I picked up in the garden for use as templates.
Several of my guns came from the factory with camo finishes, which is handy but offers no challenge.
If you need camo then just do it! Put it together and make it work.
It's not rocket science.

MB, I think you may be over analysing what we say from time to time; a lot of these threads (in my opinion) are like a brain storming sessions where everything is just thrown into the pot regardless, plus a bit of British humour/sarcasm

RE: Adding Camo to an Air Rifle
I have a solution. It all depends on how much effort you want to put into it, and how much money.
This weekend I'll be trying it out so that'll be the real test.
Enter Jack Pyke and his LLCS strips, as well as his neoprene gun covers.
One barrel cover, one stock cover, one scope cover, as well as a rifle strap was all a good start.
The real fun was when I got some of the LLCS strips and sewed them onto a super-thick shoelace that was then wrapped around the gun.
Add one more strip to the gun sling, and you have pretty damn good concealment.
I have gloves and a cap with a very similar pattern/system to the LLCS system, so I'm pretty damn happy with it.
Will post some pics when I get time.

RE: Adding Camo to an Air Rifle
Okay, I'm a bit more awake, so here's a quick few links that I hope help you get to grips with what I meant with my last post.
http://www.jackpykeshop.co.uk/jack-pyke-...eaves.html
These were sewed onto a thick black shoelace, which was then wrapped around the gun.
The Neoprene covers are these below:

http://www.jackpykeshop.co.uk/neoprene-s...overs.html
http://www.jackpykeshop.co.uk/neoprene-s...cover.html
Then the strap: http://www.jackpykeshop.co.uk/neoprene-rifle-sling.html
Which I sewed another one of the LLCS leaf patterns to.
The idea with the sling is that I will hold it against the side of the rifle, thus covering any parts of the body that are not so easily hidden.
Pics to follow. I'll take them tonight and upload them when I can work out how to do so.
A much cheaper option, and even easier to recreate: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Elastic-Syntheti...ds=hunting

RE: Adding Camo to an Air Rifle
In the above picture it's simple enough to see. Compare it now to a bright brown wood stock or a shiney black thing.
I'll get a couple of other pictures next time I'm out and hopefully you can see the effect much more cleanly.

RE: Adding Camo to an Air Rifle
A couple of cool mods I'm doing this weekend to the rifle camo.
I'm adding more leaf texture material to the barrel cover, and some to the scope cover too. I'll just break up the smooth lines a little more.
Will add some pictures when I get time.
Hopefully the rain will break tomorrow and I'll be able to get some hunting done tomorrow morning. That'd be great fun and a good test of gear.

RE: Adding Camo to an Air Rifle
Here's an old photo of some camo tape I added to a rimfire, it was easy to remove when I realized that with an effective range of 150yds the HMR didn't really need camo.
PS/ If you're wondering what is attached to the .22 at the bottom, it's an add-on night vision adapter.
