“entitlement mentality”

“entitlement mentality”

The most dangerous person you will ever meet is the one who has nothing to lose. Those persons who aren’t prepared and have relied on others to furnish their needs will ultimately suffer the most in a crisis. They will also become the most dangerous. Many will suffer from the effects of the “entitlement mentality” that has become ingrained in so much of our society. They will feel entitled to what you have because that is a "normal" part of their lifestyle. They will ultimately seek to regain what they have lost or maintain what little they have remaining by any means possible, even if it is at the expense of you or your family.
This is one of the main reasons that operational security for preppers is so important. If there were more people properly prepared for a crisis and there was less of the “entitlement mentality” in our society, this might not be the case. Quite often the exact opposite is going to be true because so very few persons are properly prepared to handle a crisis without being forced to resort to desperate measures and the odds of the government being able to handle the "overload" is not very likely (Can you say Katrina?).
Desperate people will be seeking solutions to their problems and you may not want them to see you as that solution.

RE: “entitlement mentality”
Right dont take this post as being racist cos its bloody well not, it just emphisies how two interconnected communities can develop a different mentality with rtegards to adversity.

There was a superb US TV new program made not long after Katrina turned New Orleans back into a swamp. The predominantly white / employed community members were recorded saying things like " With gods help we will rebuild" and Together we in this street will rebuild our neighbourhood" and " No storm will stop of from working hard and repairing our home". BUT the economically suppressed predominantly black parts of the city were recorded saying " The Federal Govt should help us" and " We should be given" and " the governor should give each of us $10,000 dollars to move etc.

Similarily the NO PD and National guard reported overall that desperate white people scavenged in storm damaged stores for food and tools, but the white trailer trash, rednecks and many black people were looting electronics and sports stores !!!

The socialist mentality over the years US or UK has eroded or destroyed many peoples morals to a poiint they feel they are NEVER to be held responsible for their actions or lives.

The entitlement mentality is massively dangerous!

Those will be the first to riot, even if just for the fun of it. But they will also be the first to kick up and start killing.

most of them just dont know any better, especially those from the council ghettos in the city, the majority of whom grow up not knowing right from wrong, dragged up is a better description, benefit scrounging is a career choice for them, and it dosent take much to make them "kick off".

But dont you think there is a tipping point? When normal people, not just the "nutters on the outskirts" will actually start saying these things that every one thinks but never says? We are already seening a backlash againts benefits, how long before it the rest of the stuff trickles through to normality?

RE: “entitlement mentality”
Faced with his pretty little girl dying before his eyes of starvation, the mild mannered accountant from the bottom of the road will turn into a desperate killer.

Post SHTF, there will be a lot of mild mannered white collar types, along with the inner city chavs, immigrant groups, armed gangs etc, all wanting my supplies. I live on the outskirts of a village, but they will come, and they will be motivated to take my food and supplies. Without a seconds thought, thy will kill anyone who stands in their way. And whilst we all discuss this rationally on this forum, think about this for a moment.

Post SHFT, these people are going to come and keep coming, and they will get ever more desperate as their families starve to death. Look at Yugoslavia, a modern world that tipped upside down, setting neighbour against neighbour, and turning friend into deadly foe.

We live on an over-populated and under resourced island. Some more cynical types may even venture to suggest that the powers that be have actually allowed immigration to go unchecked in order to flood the land with disparate groups who will never integrate, but will easily separate into warring factions in a post SHFT scenario. Why cull the population when you can let them do a perfectly good job themselves. Then step in as the big government saviour, welcomed by those who want security, for the price of your freedom of course. Yes, that maybe cynicism too far, but it get's yer thinkin'.

So, how do I defend against the onslaught ? That's the hard bit. As brave, as strong and as tooled up as I am to stay alive to look after mine, they will be equally, if not more motivated, as tehy hear the cries of their starving babies ringing in their ears.

Security is big issue. Soon, I will have many tonnes of supplies, and I cannot physically move them. I need to bug in and use all of the techniques found in this forum and others to "grey out", confuse, and eliminate any threat.

<Lack of food used to scare me, now it is how to protect family and supplies, stay alive in the face of looters and starving chavs, and how to fortify and boobytrap my bug in base.

Some great posts on here.

RE: “entitlement mentality”
I totaly agree with steve above. Whilst we are all to some degree or another aware of the "I want what you've got and I want it now" mentality, it's bad enough now during "peacetime" let alone after shtf. As steve suggests and as I myself have and numerous other people in other posts :- DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE YOUR ENEMY !! it has been the downfall of nations and empires and whether people like it or not the unprepared may be our friends today but they WILL be the enemy post shtf, yours and your families lives versus theirs. As for the unchecked immigration it's most likely the reason steve states, as there IS NO VALID REASON for there to be ANY immigration AT ALL right now, especially as we're in a recession.
The borders should be shut and we should pull out of europe NOW and stop sending aid ANYWHERE, charity starts at home as the saying goes.
England is seen as a soft touch and THE place to go. We're no after Somalias oil... how long before we let even more somalis in to sweeten the oil deal that we'll never get?

RE: “entitlement mentality”
I agree, and disagree at the same time.

I think people will be rioting and looting in a non-logical way.

The stores that will be the first to be looted are those that were first looted in Londonistan last year. Technology shops, Apple, Fones4U, and places like that. PC World will be screwed. But Tesco and those kinds of places will be hit by people looking for food and that kind of thing. They will be the ones looted by the 'non-scrubbers'. Those will be Steve's accountant at the bottom of the road with the hungry child. They will be looting for food.

The problem will arrise when the TV carriers/looters realise they can't eat a PS3 and then turn to looting the supermarkets. When they realise the markets have been stripped and food has vanished, that is when people will need to have their homes look like they've already been looted and destroyed. If not, they're coming for you.

RE: “entitlement mentality”
I agree with all three of you, The chavs will raid curries and comet for plasma tvs and Chav world for Nike trainers, but eventually they who did not prepare will start hunting in packs those of us who did prepare.
So yet again I stay step one is to put as much distance tween where you live and city centers.

I also agree about the mass import of dissimilar and incompatable , often hostile migrant workers ( the EU only yesterday ordered the UK to take 60,000 more Indian migrant workers). That way the PTB or NWO or ruling elite can Oh so easily divide and conquer AND my friends grab all the best bits of these islands for themselves.

I put it to you that over recent months I have managed to show on many occasions how the rich and influential are (A) Moving out to self sufficient homesteads and small holdings, (B) Moving into gated communities with security © Tunneling like mad making Iceberg houses (D) buying or leasing properties in places like the Channel Islands, Windies, Cyprus, Scotish Islands etc. THEY are insulating and segregating themselves ASAP in a form of wealth Apartheid. Now at the same time those same ruling elites who govern us are step by step consolidating housing for peasants, utilities, shops, schools, transport systems etc in the bigger ciies which drives ever more poorer folks to migrate away from the countryside and into the large towns where its easily to control them. They are going the belt and braces route as well by driving up the cost of food and fuel to a level it will stop the masses from moving outside the cities, again this leaves the nice rural and now emptying villages for them to live in idylic surroundings.

Look up Iceberg houses in London, Gated Communities, Eco villages, White Flight, Centralisation of public services, condensing of public transport systems within city boundaries. If you cannot see what is happening god help you.
