We are an island our government should support the storing of preps, it would lessen a load in any event.

The goverment support prepping are you kidding, they can't even support this country. They know we exist but would never support anything we do don't forget we are proberly classed as undesirables and everything brought from abroad payed for by credit cards is recorded.

RE: Block on long term food.
Read the link. The import of certain foodstuffs is banned because of the possibility of introducing pathogens into our farming industry (see 2001 FMD outbreak). It has nothing whatever to do with prepping. You CAN buy items not on the banned list from overseas if you so choose. Tinfoil hats not required.Wink
Yes it's blardy annoying you can't get certain foodstuffs. For goodness sake, get creative! Dehydrate at home and store in mylar or Kilner jars. Can fruit, veg and meat and butter yourself. Make up your own dry mixes of soups, cakes, bread, and milk puddings (see Bexar preppers' youtube videos). It's not rocket science and you know what has gone into them. Some things you just have to accept we either can't get or will have to pay for.
As regards some items, well instead of moaning about the lack thereof, maybe make up a company and make a group order. Everything you need can be bought wholesale, from powdered egg, cheese and mixes to freeze dried veg. You just have to be prepared to stick your nose above the parapet. Here's a few things I've found.
Eggs http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EGG-POWDER-POW...4d023436fe

Cheese powder http://www.infusions4chefs.co.uk/shop/in...se-powder/

Also http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mild-Cheddar-Che...-1-catcorr

For a butter flavour store butter buds http://www.amazon.co.uk/Butter-Buds-Sach...B004JK8B4E

You can get powdered chicken Bouillon at most ethnic stores, they often sell powdered whole milk too.

Yes that has now been made clear, import restrictions and all that, my problem is there is no internal long term food based program in the UK or at least a choice offered.

Here is a quick math,

USA can of cheese powder 3.5lb $28 and in a sealed tin 15 years shelf life.

http://www.providentprovisions.net/Dehyd...p/dh38.htm

Now from TOF link.

Cheese powder 100g no sealed can.

http://www.infusions4chefs.co.uk/shop/in...-100g.html

First point to note in order to get "one equivalent can" to the USA shop I added to cart 15, and got a warning box telling me only nine in stock.

The math £94 to obtain the equivalent weight.

Look at the link to the yank store and see all the good stuff on offer, I fully understand the restriction on some imports that should not mean we don't create our own supply to offer the People of the UK that would like to say prep for events.

I admit I have not dug to deep on other sites for powderd cheese I just went with the info from TOF link.

RE: Block on long term food.

I know it's frustrating, I used to get headaches over it. I have now concluded that for very long term storage such as you require we're pretty much stuffed. I have planned my storage around a shorter shelf life and rotate rather than squirrel away for 15 years. Its not perfect, but there's not a lot we can do about it at present. There are a few places that sell Mountain House foods, but I have only seen complete meals.
The links I gave were the best I've managed to find so far. I did once find a place that sold tinned butter, but I forgot to bookmark the bliddy page and lost it!

Regulations what bloody regulations they got to not allow sealed canned food from entering the UK.

Been after that canned egg for a while it has 5 to 10 year shelf life and opened 12 months, I have made my own its crap and I don't really want just egg white these whole eggs would be nice.

You can get long term foodstuffs here(blardy expensive though) http://shop.conserva.de/epages/es116266....D=12830372

If you want powdered egg. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EGG-POWDER-POW...4d00eec585

Apparently you can get tinned butter in Thai food shops.

Ooops! Should read The import dairy or meat products is BANNED from most countries outside the EU.

Didn't know honey was not allowed into country, have brought back bottles of the stuff from India and never had a comment either.
