borrowed from an American forum: 1.dressing like Mad Max/Rambo etc.(cartridge belt, carbine, bandana and a leather jacket with one sleeve missing/torn off!) 2. living in an Urban situation. 3.walking around with lots of guns, knives etc and acting like you are gods gift to the apocalypse.4.that sure is a nice BOV(must be one of these preppers we've heard about??) 5.bragging about your bunker/bol/retreat etc. 6. overprepping-so you cant just bug out and leave. 7. underprepping-obvious. 8.cooking outdoors in plain sight. 9.its cold outside-yours is the only house with smoke coming out of the chimney?. 10.looking well fed and happy. 11.putting those empty cans where they can/and will be found. 12.power is out everywhere-but you have lights! 13.trying to be a hero. 14.thinking some book tells you all you need to know. Maybe you'all can think of a few more?? BP.

15) deoderant/aftershave/perfume. who the hell has deoderant more than x months after TSHTF? Just preppers and the odd deoderant factory owner maybe... lol

16) Standing out from the crowd... this one alone makes 10 of the first 15 redundant

Who doesnt move around these days without backpacks, manbags etc ?

No need to advertise your 'gear' is more than what it actually is , have a drab or dark coloured backpack (you can buy DPM camo covers that waterproof them and help cam them when you go out in the field.)

Jackets like this -

Puffa Jacket

are quite modern and fairly innocuous looking and offer the added benefits of having built-in earphones that can be utilised to work with your personal comms system etc...some of the guys on the forum already have jackets like this.

Thinking that because you are armed that no one else is, thinking that because you cannot see anyone else they cannot see you, thinking that your are the top dog and best shot in the area, thinking because you were " The Man" on the forum that somehow gives you rank or prestige in the real world.

Thinking no one else will find your stockpile and thinking you dont need a backup cache. thinking that because you can only see two of them means there is no more hiding and watching you. Thinking you do not need to slow down before you ride / drive round that corner or over than hill top because you dont think anyone would set an ambush there. Thinking that surely after al this time I can walk down the road instead of go cross country. Thinking you have ENOUGH..................

some good points here!!

smoking cigarettes, the smell can travel as far as a few miles in a woodland area.

other "unnatural" smells, essentially anything that indicates the precense, recent or current, of an intelligent organism.

not having good opsec about all your plans, its all very well and good sharing knowledge with eachother on forums like this, or maybe even organising a group of people to bug out with, but keep your destination and such like quiet.

underestimating people, just cause we're preppers doesnt mean we're tougher in a fight, especially with someone whose desperate for what we got!...its all too easy to think other people are less intelligent than you and cant recognise signs of habitation and such like, more people than you realise can!!....another spin off of this point is the idea that more people than you would think will end up roaming the countryside and be more organised than you'd assume.

never underestimate a threat, overestimation is fine, you can prepare better and having extra supplies, underestimation will kill you.

Got to sadly disagree with your comment Sir, YES until a few years ago I would agree that when people got hungry or fearful the people would lost the plot and rampage, but today I dont think they even need to be hungry or afraid.

These days greed and lack of respect for law and order often see riotous looting and rioting with innocent people being savagely beaten and raped / murdered just cos they dont fear punishment.
The riots in Paris and Marseilles, London and Manchester show that very clearly.

Last August in Tottenham the gangs of ethnic thugs and rioters were not hungry or afraid, they just lost their fear of the police, and that phenomina is growing fast right across the world. Ethnics rioting in London cos they know the cops are afraid of them, Sunnis rising up against dominant Shi -ite dictatorships in the middle east. Afghan, Pakistani, chechnian and Kazak asylum seekers rioting in OZ because they authorities are afraid of being classed as racist opressors. Islamist in North Africa blowing up churchs and driving entire communities of non muslims out of the country. Huge gangs of criminals who are now better armed than many South american police forces are killing hundreds a day and taking over entire provinces.

These days if you have your own house and car and actually have a job makes YOU the enemy to much of the ethnics and underclasses who resent your " wealth" and status even if your home is a 2 up 2 down in a grotty estate and your car is a Ford Fiesta.

I go mental once a month if there is no chocolate in the fridge for night time munching...Never go near an almost menstruating woman if she has no chocolate..You think you should be scared of druggies and vagabonds when TSHTF is in full swing?...NO.....men beware lol, In fact....either stock pile choc in your preps or do one and leave the woman at home while you bug out lol....Didn't mean it, just my warped sense of humour My bad?
