I have always used honey to treat burns,cuts, and other ailments. It's fab, I bought a jar of Manuka honey and believe me it's not cheap. £12 a jar.....
I have some put back in my preps
After I got the snip, My stitches caused an infection so I slapped on some honey, Infection cleared thee next day, Antibiotics would have taken days!
You have to use decent honey though, not Tesco £1.50 stuff

I've got (or had) an infected wound on my ankle (think I did it when drunk, can't remember properly) when I got home last night it was yellow / green. Went to the walk in centre to be told I may as well come back in 3 years time when the queue is slightly shorter. Went home, slapped a load of honey on there (not the fancy stuff, just normal honey) and all is well this morning.

When you can do to treat an infected wound etc is use a gauze pad and encircle the wound. Trim the pad down so it sticks out about quarter of an inch. Now you've got a ring around the wound (the gauze) 1/4 of an inch deep. Fill that with sugar, then bandage over and leave. Have a gander in the morning and you should find it's looking better. Replace the sugar (and gauze etc) and leave for 48 hours. This works wonders on recurring abscesses and ulcers etc. The sugar prevents bacterial growth and sucks out the infection too. Damn site cheaper than imported honey

I love honey for cuts and scraps. One drop, piece of micro-pore on top and leave for 24 hours.
Cured an ulcer on my leg in weeks after 6 years of failures by the NHS.
Good enough bug killer in the Napoleon wars and still works now.
Nature at it's very best.

apparently what they dont mention about that honey is that apparently you have 4 days to use it from opening it! whilst im not 100% on that, thats what 1 reviewer said about it although not sure it sounds right to me xD


and here i was all this time thinking my mum was stupid for spending 12 quid on a pot of honey! might have to reconsider my stance on manuka

In the text I read back in the 70's it said that honey worked two ways.
The sugar content was too concentrated for bugs to grow in and also the chemical make up of the stuff helped new skin growth. No mention use by dates.
Heck I never even refrigerated my stuff just got a good grade of pure honey.

I also used pure cocoa butter on scar tissue.
Again an old recipe that helped scar recession.
The wife uses to on her hands as a treatment for arthritis and eczema.
Diabetics use to keep their feet 'pliable' too.

I love all these natural remedies.

cocoa butter is an absolute wonder!
my mum got me into it, but as you say really does wonders for your skin, scars, calloused parts.

altough i hardly ever use it anymore
