Permethrin
Permethrin is synthetic insecticide originally derived from crushed dried Chrysanthemum flowers.
It is an insect repellent, especially useful as a cloth impregnate.

Health wise, 5% creams are used for scabies, 1% for head lice and crabs.
Not for direct skin use BUT it doesn't readily penetrate the skin.
Try not to breath or ingest the dust.
Degraded by sunlight, its half life < 30 days.

It's cheap and sold in the UK in 0.5% for crawling insects as a dusting powder.
If you are moving in a tick infested area, dust all your clothing before hand.
Carry a tick hook (available from most vet offices).

In dirty environments, spread a decorators sheet and sprinkle it with dusting powder before laying bedding.
This will keep crawling insects away i.e. Ticks, fleas, ants, etc.
