thats nearly £1K PER WEEK! you dont need ANY benefits if you've got that coming in..even if you pay the highest rate of tax its still a lot of dosh.
Some people that prefer to be alone arent anti-social they just have no time for drama, stupidity and false people.

If the average workers pay overall is say £23,000 PA , regardless of circumstance no benefit claimant should get a penny more, 1 kid, 10 kids, healthy or disabled, , young or old, no more than the average workers pay.

any one else see the major mistake in this ? if a family has a sole provider earning £50000 its stopped but if the family has two provers earning £49,999.99 each (£99,999.98p in total ) its not stopped ???

Well, you have to start some where - if you don't, you just don't start. The idea behind it is that people earning more than the £50K will have to do a self assessment to pay the child benefit back. People will just say 'stuff it' and stop claiming the benefit rather than going through the rigmarole of getting some money, paying the same amount back and then doing a tax return for the privilege.
As child benefit is only paid to one parent, I think data protection laws would stop the govt at looking at how much all household members earn. Also, working on a combined household income, it would not inspire people into bettering themselves - two parents on £24k a year each would doing nothing to better themselves for fear of losing some chicken feed government charity.

hold on so every one still gets it then they claim it back! but because some people pay tax in there own country on money they earn here it might be illegal to claim back money from uk tax payers because non uk tax payers get the benefit too! ok two questions one if they earn money in the uk but dont pay uk taxes way do they get uk benefits anyway? and two if the live and work in the uk full time why the feck are they paying tax in another country while using the nhs ,police , schools and benefits ?

The mail have it wrong. They are looking at it from the point of view that if it was deducted PAYE then people from other countries, who may have income there, such as investment, company director, property owner etc may not have this taken into account.
However, as it is through self assessment, anyone not complying with the rules is commiting tax fraud. It is a very clever way of doing it as the onus is not on HMRC to prove or disprove who is earning what, the onus is on the individual not to commit a crime. Tax fraud is one of those crimes that nearly always results in a prison sentence.
