Just watched FIFTH GEAR
Amazing show just watched, a specialist importer is now once again selling the Lada Niva 4x4 in the UK LHD only, for £11K.

They test drove it on top gear, They drove coast to coast from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hoods Bay in North Yorks, CROSS COUNTRY, only using lanes, farm tracks, RUPPS, river beds etcs not even B roads. It succeeded.
One point they were climbing over the pennines on a sheep track and the Niva sailed over the hill effortlessly but the Disco camera car got stuck.

The crews opinion on arrival at RH bay, its the Cheapest propper 4x4 in the UK, and its the BEST off roader !!!
Food for thought.

20 years ago I had the Lada Niva Cossack Cabrio, one of only a couple right hand drive convertible 4 x 4`s in the country & I wish I still had it.... with it I actually pulled my friends Range Rover out of the shit when we were pissing about "off roading". Wink
Dodgy If you always have, on your person, at least 2 ways to make fire, you might be a prepper. Tongue

Yup good mud plugger, I had a Cossack as a Company car, totally unfazed by any sort of weather or road conditions.

Just a note.
The new ones run off unleaded and unlike the old models, now has an ECU and fuel management.
If you can get to France though, you can pick up a 1995 diesel version for round 3500 euros.
