(2 December 2012, 22:55)Highlander Wrote: NR,... I think that if I was in a good enough postion to have a group, I would certainly include a farmer if possible, I think that farming would be one of the most important aspects of starting over again if not the most important, farming livestock is and has been the one most important aspects for subtaining a population ever,.. virtualy every group of people in history have had to revert to farming at one time or another,... evern American Indians

Hah !!!, if I was going to form a group from scratch and I was rich like SD I would be setting the group up ON A FARM, bordered by a river, in a heavily wooded or coal laden area, The farmer would be first, medic second, blacksmith third, carpenter fourth, sparky fifth, a soldier / security specialist sixth (me) A well sorted smallholding or mini farm in the right place is the key foundation of building a safe secure renewable society. Each and every person would be required to study and practice traditional skills from weaving, charcoal making, hunting, leatherwork, horsey care, bow / arrow making, tanning, various smithing, chemistry etc, God if you only knew how many thousands of hours I have spent over the years studying farms, allotments, smallholdings, stately homes with gardens etc working out if they would be suitable for a bunch of preppers to take over after TSHTF.

Mrs NR knows and understands 100% that if I ever came into money or won the lottery I would buy a suitable farm and offer free dwellings for selected other prepper families who share our point of view and have skills to suppliment ours. Smile
