I watched them all,.... they are certainly very `British`,.. but I bet they are not far short of what to do even today,.. at least if you had time to do at least what the folk in the films did, you would be better off than most people,....providing you had the time to do some of those preperations

I think the mentality was different then.

It was 64 so not too long after the war and people still remembered the blitz and still had the make do and mend philosophy.

I think if you put out a modern version of that nowadays things would be vastly different and also a lot of people cant "do" any more.
