Security is a major concern during any current world scenario, and post SHTF it should rightly be at the top of our list. Night vision systems, or at least top end ones tend to have a high price tag making them unreachable for all but the well heeled prepper. The digital revolution has brought NV systems down to levels that make them affordable to many more people, even if you have to save a while to do it. Having the ability to move around at night when the vast majority of the population can't is a huge advantage, especially when most of the people will be escaping the cities by day, enabling you and your family a safer exit under the cover of darkness. The Yukon Ranger digital night vision monocular 5x42 is an amazing bit of kit, and after seeing one in action I am trying to justify having one, and at around £500 as compared to other systems is pretty good value, but still a large chunk of money.
