Silva compasses are really a mine field for someone like River who is looking for their first compass, they can range in price from £5 to over £150 giving some idea of how big that mine field is

I would certainly not suggest you buy the cheapest, when it comes to compasses, your life could be in danger,.. but I also would never pay out the stupid prices at the top of the range

This is the one I have, in fact I have two, and being ex military I can vouch for them being able to do the job well
