RE: Wilderness Gathering 2012
ggrrrrr, just found out that I can't make this one now. Not impressed. No dogs allowed, can't leave the pup behind for that long, so we're going to go to the Bushcraft Show instead. Miles away from me, but gotta get to one of these this year.

thats a shame binary, we're just going for the day (Saturday)...same kind of reason too, have to leave the dog behind so we'll be back home by the evening.

I know. Gutted. I may be able to convince the wife to give me a day pass so I can come along on the Saturday. I'll have to broach the subject carefully.

When I saw the thread was from 'Northern' Raider I assumed it would be far too far for me to get to without taking out a second mortgage to pay for the diesel. But that looks pretty South to me, in fact I think I'm only about an hour and twenty minutes away.
And better still I think I can get it 'wife approved' by inviting some of her family along who are big into bushcraft.

I think they are buffalo in America, and Bison in Africa, so what you call them in Wiltshire I don't know. I've taken on guard dogs, fought more men than I can remember (used to be night club bouncer tis all, I'm not a crazed mugger or anything) but I wouldn't want to take on a Bison with anything less than a 30-06 (minimum)... and preferably sat in a landrover (me not the Bison).
I like the way North American Indians (not sure the new PC term) used to fight Buffalo armed with ... a cliff!

Bison, Buffalo, same thing.......unless you check out the 'World Library' (google)!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_bison
"The American bison (Bison bison), also commonly known as the American buffalo, is a North American species of bison"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_bison

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_buffalo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Asian_water_buffalo

WOO!!! How depressing is that?!?!? I'm a total nerd. Damn right I'm good in a pub quiz though! haha.

Either way.......they're delicious!!!
Oh and spot on BP. 5 points to team Dorset! They were called Tatanka by the Souix. I learned that beastly bit of knowledge from "Dances With Wolves" and there was a wrestler called Tatanka from when I was a kid.
