I must admit that for once I agree with BP.
Personally I find the Long Bow better, not only can you make them yourself and the arrows but they have a quicker repeat cycle.
You make a good bow from hornbeam.
Long bows are still legal in the UK though I have no doubt that if you carried it openly with out good cause you would get stopped by PC Plod.
