In the British military the ration packs have 4000 calories iirc because it had to contain enough energy for all activities and as no-one ever ate everything it meant that generally you got 3000 calories per day.

So for SHTF you could cope on less really in my case cos of bugging in but post SHTF when farming and rebuilding you would need the full calories intake.

And that is when they will not be as much about or easy to access like now, hence why I agree with people estimating 15 months of food stored as a minimum - but that will take me personally some time to acquire but little and often seems to be working!

Hmmm now just to either remortgage or win the lottery to accelerate the preps!
