You average grunt has been trained not to think for himself.

He is subject to a harsh training regime that is designed to condition him NOT to think, just obey !

The military mindset can be a disadvantage to a situation that requires alternative thinking.

I personally think adaptability is essential. Not being set in your ways.

I completely disagree with this assessment, it is the complete opposite to what is really required of a modern soldier, he is no longer cannon fodder, but someone who has to make his own decisions and to be able to operate very technical equipment

The thing is,... a soldier is not a prepper, no-one has ever said that their military career is related to prepping,... but a lot of the training done by a soldier is something that preppers do,... the modern soldier is a very adaptable man, he has to be, dont confuse the soldiers of the 50s-70s with the military people of today

You can take this further, a soldier is not a prepper, nor is a bushcraft person, the likes of Bear Grilis and Cody are not prepers they are survivalists

Preppers are a bred to themselves, they are a mix of both the above, you pick out the bits you like and add it to your preperations,.. if you want to bug out in boots take that from the military if you want to use other footwear, then take it from somewhere else

We shouldnt even compare soldiers to preppers, there is nothing in common at all, we shouldnt compare bushcraft experts to preppers either for the same reason,.. neither of these groups will have food stores or bug out routes, they will have nothing we have, unless they become preppers
