fresh jam has got to be better than shop bought commercial crap! as for jars, why are you buying new? cant you RECYCLE old ones, knock on neighbours doors i'm sure you could have some for the asking, just make sure to wash them out well.
Some people that prefer to be alone arent anti-social they just have no time for drama, stupidity and false people.
