They are nowhere near as fantastic as Rawles makes them out to be.

They are not watertight, so one can not cook in them, and they are quite flimsy. They bend at the touch. I keep several in my primitive caping gear for storing charcoal and fire starters.

#5 plastic buckets are a much better choice. Line them with tinfoil for the same faraday protection and pack some of the beans and rice in a coffee tin so you will have some sort of cook-pot in each container.

Sit on a #5 plastic bucket and you have a nice chair, sit on a popcorn tin and you have a view from the ground.
