Apparently it's not classed as a fixed dwelling...yet you van live in it full time if you work the land it's on without using fuel. electric etc, so man power and horses are to be used.
I don't get it, If it's my land, why can't I build what I feckin want on it?
In the program Grand designs, some of those buildings needed planning permission,
O'k, so if you're building a tower or something that is going to interfere with the landscape I can understand it but a 20ft yurt? Maximum of 12 ft tall?
I think these laws apply all over the E.u...so my plan of a yurt In Spain has gone out of the window ! Sad

Hey girl stop whinging and look harder for an answer Smile it sound like your pretty adamant to do something so do get angry get moving.Smile

Ok 20 seconds doing a spot of research tells me that their is a vibrant alternative community in Orgiva in Spain, its an area load with people living the alternative lifestyle some even in yurts lit by PV arrays.
Articles on food availabily and women and kids living in the area are available

Indeed the author of the popular book DO IT YOURSELF 12Volt Solar Power Michel Daniek lives in that community.

The evolution of Yurts has not been based on a wet temperate climate. Cold - yes.. Wet - No! Their design is not ideal longer term in the UK due to degredation of their construction materials due to damp/mould/rot etc that arises in our climatic environment. That is why they are not quite like the structures that our ancestors did build in these Isles. If you want to utilise indiginous old tech, then for a successful local design get out the history books or visit an Iron Age recreated village. TL[/u]
