i love canvas its smell, the feel the solidity i just can't be arsed to hump it any distance....for a long term camp absolutely but if i'm on the move then no.
Yeah, I have the 5 meter SoulPad. That's ridiculously heavy. Then the frontier stove to go in it doesn't help with the weight. Fine for car camping, but not much else.
Still on the lookout for a canvas tarp though!
I have a 4 metre soul pad myself great piece of kit no for trekking on foot have a tarp or small coleman. But for long term base they can't be beat mine withstood some major rain this year

We're heading off to deepest darkest Dartmoor for a meet tomorrow. 80mph winds and torrential rain forecast. Shouldn't be a problem for the SoulPad - I don't have a witches hat for the frontier stove though, so just hope that the rain doesn't come straight down the flue!

I bought it when I bought the stove. Wish I'd placed it slightly more centrally though, so I might have to patch that hole and make another one.

good luck with that! don't forget to dig a trench around the tent for the excess water and be prepared to get a wet bum!!! DONT camp near any forestry as plenty of trees will come down in those winds.
