You can hide a razor blade behind the battery in a mobile phone
Woe to those who add house to house and join field to field, Until there is no more room, So that you have to live alone in the midst of the land!

Be careful about carrying that pack with you as hand luggage, mainly because the security control Nazis will immediately see you as having different to the norm and you'll have a very high chance of the old "random" full search.
If you don't mind all of your gear being scrutinized in public that's fine. Personally I do everything possible not to draw attention, so avoid such situations.
A few years ago i noticed I was being routinelely given the full-random search treatment when travelling in USA. Eventually I challenged them, and found out taht it was my "strange" european footwear taht was catching attention. As soon as I purchased a pair of US business shoes the random checks stopped completely.
It would be a whole lot less troublesome to carry a full BOB or GHB in hold luggage, with just a minimal kit in your cabin luggage.

Most security operatives train using a list of clothing, baggage, general behaviour, or mannerisms to "trigger" close scrutiny.
I used to have one when working security at airports and ports.
I'm pretty certain you'll find that the ex-forces guys on the forum would have been trained in the same way. i.e. How to spot a suicide bomber!

If only our border people were ex military. They are of the same ilk as traffic wardens power hungry little hitlers who take out their frustrations on the powerless.

Hi Hrusai,
I thought of somethig else last night.
If you haven't already got one, apply for a European Health Card, and take it with you ( again photo copies in separate place and at home in UK) You can order one on line here: http://www.europeanhealth.org.uk/
If you're taken ill while in europe showing this card will immediately get you access to local healthcare. Such access is not automatic, and if you're sick, the last thing you need is to have to get to cash machines etc.
