RE: is this wrong ?¿
let me assure you anyone who shoots from what i know(and i know alot of shooters) take great pride in there guns and when you bear in mind most are in the thousands if not tens of thousands one thing is on there mind for sure, thats the security of there guns .. if most haul out they will be taking every gun and shell with them ... but feel free to try and ask them if they ll show you them ...i expect a very very hostile response from all ... and probably accurate as well.
Get a license and do it properly dont expect to come accross one.

RE: is this wrong ?¿
If I thought someone had a gun in their house, that's the last place I would be visiting. I like my rear end as it is, without it being peppered with numerous shot
If you're seriously considering going looting at an armed persons house, you must be crackers!!! I mean that as a none insulting way, incase it gets interpreted wrong.

Actually, I'd be much more likely to visit a home that I knew didn't have firearms... but there aren't many of those here in Texas (2 or 3 at last count)!

RE: is this wrong ?¿
I've not read the replies, but I just want to say: Are you planning on getting a gun off that person?
Plan:
Break into a house and steal guns + ammo.
Pros:
You will leave the house guns and ammo
Cons:
Owner has guns (fact)
Owner probably has ammo for those guns
Owner practices with those guns regularly, and should thus be considered a skilled shooter
Owner will be protecting the family with...? Kitchen equipment......urm, I mean GUNS!!!
Plan A. A for attack:
Assault the house and steal the cabinet, then steal the ammo safe, break into both, and get away, totally silently and undetected; providing the guns are in the cabinet.
Plan B:
Make friends with the person prior to a SHTF situation, and then if something happens, you have an ally, both of you locked and loaded and ready to roll.
Plan C
If person isn't much fun prior to SHTF-----> AVOID THE HOUSE AT ALL COSTS!!!
Scythe13's 'professional' assessment of the situation:
I think I'd go with plan B, that should actually become plan A (your first plan of action).

BP's action plan: leave that person alone and move as far from him(and everyone else) as possible!!
Some people that prefer to be alone arent anti-social they just have no time for drama, stupidity and false people.

RE: is this wrong ?¿
To accurately answer your question, is it wrong? Yes, it's very wrong.
My ex's dad has 2 shoty's. He's a great guy and we get along really well. But I'm sure, even he would rather arm up his family, than give a gun to me to 'borrow'. Now considering I get on well with him, let's look at it another way, this person is a stranger to you....would you give a stranger a gun if they turned up at your door or in your living room? If you answer "Yes, I'd show him the working end of it, in action!" then I'd agree. But honestly, if someone came to my door post SHTF, and I didn't know them REALLY well, they'd be in a hell of a bad situation.
I like how you're adding things up, linking cars to houses, and the alike. But this idea isn't one that could end productively. Good thinking, but it's a no go.

RE: is this wrong ?¿
IMO I guess its a toss up between risk and reward post SHTF. As contfrontaions go you would only want to want to enter one if you have a massive chance of winning (like 90% or more). If things really got that bad you would be nervous to walk past a stranger in the street let alone go solo raiding aginst a gun owner.
By all means do a dry run and let us know how it goes lol.
