RE: Make your own sea salt
Salt is also necessary for use in a chlorine generator for large scale water purification. That is probably the best system for use by a large group or supplying water to a small village post event.

Much like Highlander's church group, I work with a mission society that concentrates on providing clean water in remote areas, mostly in Central America. Crude filters combined with small chlorine generators are the system they use.

We use the generators over here a lot since 911. Public swimming pools used to keep barrels and tanks of chlorine liquid and gas but they were eliminated due to ease of being used as terrorist targets. Just imagine al quida blowing up the local pool and sending chlorine gas wafting over the American suburbs. Unlikely, but considered a threat by our powers that be.

Portable generators or pocket generators are simple to make had use but require a couple spoons of salt. Almost every home pool built in the past 10 years has its own generator and the homeowner usually keeps a 100 pound bag of salt on hand not realizing its other uses.

Salt is also excellent for baiting large game animals. It might take a while for them to find your "lick", but once they do it is an addiction they can not break and a constant supply of meat for the taking.
