RE: What have done towards your prep?
This weekend has been a camping trip (no write up as it was only camping and not gear testing or anything like that, so not really prep related) and during this trip, aside from stalking animals and having a great time with my wife, I have had a wonderful chat with her about building a BOB, but also about working out a BOB that is right for her.
The trip showed her how much stuff she had already packed, just for a weekend, and how impractical it would be to carry such a large load for a long distance. It was a real eye opener for her. Even though I was carrying the bag (about 80lbs I'd guess at. Easily over 70, max guess would be 90) and she thought she'd packed small amounts of stuff, the total weight was considerable. Bare in mind that I only took a 1 season sleeping bag, a bag liner, and the camping cook system (ultra light, as you'd expect from me) the whole thing blew her mind.
She put forward a great idea, a walk from Haytor to Hound Tor camp at Hound then walk back the next day! AMAZING IDEA!!! Any takers? Oh, and it's full BOB's too.

That's awesome SS. Really pleased it's running well.
Today I paced out 400meters in a line and an additional 100 meters. Time for sprint training!

RE: What have done towards your prep?
Awesome news today! The wife is 100% on board with the food storage! Celebrated with a shop of around £20. Not a lot, but it's a nice bit added on.
Decked out a lot of the loft space, and now have around 140ish tins up there. Stood up there with the wife, so I know it can take both my weight and hers, so it's a lot more shopping to go up there.
Also, added 1700 pellets to the store today. Nice to have, but it cost a damn site more than the tins shopping.
Oh, forgot to say it earlier....got my photos of crow stalking!!! Will post them up when I get to work tomorrow.

RE: What have done towards your prep?
Are you sure that storing tinned foods in the loft is the best option?
Surely it would be like storing them in a cooker at low heat, loft spaces can easily reach 50 degree C in the summer months. This is one of the reasons for positioning Air Source Heat pumps in loft voids.

Such heat could (I guess??) easily spoil your food over a matter of months.
