Migrant Caravan Approaching US Mexico Border
The idea that this is a spontaneous, disorganized event that "randomly" occurred just prior to the US election is delusional thought. Most US military veterans or enforcement could, if given the authority and resources, stop this caravan.

I had the opportunity to "Tabletop" this scenario on another forum and I thought the conclusions would make an interesting read. You are fortunate to have the English Channel and not a common border.

To start with the US should cut off the billions in aid we give Mexico annually.

Stop all border traffic crossing both ways effective tomorrow except for returning US citizens.

Let Mexico know if they don't help on their side, the new trade deal is over and that all trade with them ends tomorrow.

Let Mexico, The International Red Cross and anyone else who supports this caravan of invaders know the consequences will be immediate, severe and long lasting.

Arrest anyone else who aids and abets what is clearly a well organized and well financed invasion of the United States.

Deploy thoroughly briefed, well trained and equipped troops to likely crossing points.

Construct field expedient barricades, fencing and wire, etc.

Deploy National Guard under Title 32 authority, directed by state adjutants general with NORTHCOM synchronizing independent efforts.

Execute classic counter-reconnaissance template:

Physical barriers on natural lines of drift;
REMBASS sensors linked to aviation and ground based interdiction teams;
Ground based radars to track movement;
Riverine patrol boats;
Temporary holding areas...

The key tasks are to acquire, track, attrition, hand-off infiltrators to next echelon.

Defense in depth is essential to success.
In this case depth means hundreds of miles instead of 10s of kilometers.

DEA and Border Patrol runs the show. Army and NG catch the infiltrators and turn over to Federal LE for sorting and processing.

Posse Commitatus IS NOT an issue because NG and Active Army is supporting force to NORTHCOM not involved in law enforcement at all.

STRONGLY advise against refugee screening in CONUS. Instead move them all to GITMO or another foreign base for evaluation and processing. Camp Doha comes to mind.

Public health and safety is the reason - We don’t want any more epidemics like the typhus outbreak in SoCal, and there are no adequate domestic facilities ready to house them. At GITMO they are out of the reach of federal judges, which avoids a replay of photogenic children behind barbed wire in Texas. The holding is best done at a remote military facility.

The trouble will be court battles over how things are handled. That’s why the foreign invaders can’t be detained in the US. Because otherwise any judge can issue a release order and a cease and desist injunction. Best to avoid those adverse consequences by letting NG round them up and by having active duty manage forward deployed detention and procession under supervision of DoJ.

Air Force and Navy can handle the transportation and some medical screening with Public Health Service and USAMRID support. Enough cases of infectious disease will probably be found to justify the cautious approach to domestic public safety as flu season approaches.

Stopping this is not rocket science. It is about having the political will to stop it.

Personally I don't see the above happening, because there is a reason the "big Money movers" in the drug cartels want top keep the violence contained war on their side of the fence. The safest place in AZ is the border town of Naco in the middle of the street on a week night. Why? Because the LAST thing the human trafficers and drug smugglers want is more law and more people deployed here.

The Cartels will never do anything to force a response from the US Govt. In Texas when 2 American jet skiers were killed. Obama didn't do anything, but Texas permanently deployed gun boats along the Rio Grande which demonstrate a history of shooting anything moving on the river, including the occasional cow who fails to "halt" on command.

Add in the loss of drug revenue from legalizing MJ in several US states and you have the Mexican criminal element being trip wire touchy when others try to muscle in on their operation, either by attracting attention or moving in territories they don't own.

The Mexican Cartels don't want more law interfering with their operations. They can kill who they want in Mexico, but don't allow the noise of a gun fight to cross the line or lots of OD green and blue shirts show up. That's bad for business.

Keep in mind that this "caravan" didn't coordinate with any of the cartels. Every inch along the Mexican border is "owned" on the south side by organized criminal gangs. The caravan might get to the Mexican border states, but the whole circus will break apart when the event organizers don't have permission to go further once they are here. Its going to take an outrageous amount of bribe money green to grease those wheels for thousands of migrants.

My take is the Cartels will accomplish for Trump and Company what the Mexican Army will not. Increased border traffic congestion is disrupting the crossing. My asessment is that we are just waiting to see if the cartels start killing some of them on their side them to send a message or if the Mexican Army looses control and heats up their M240's because Granpa green ( United States) has cut off the AID money for the Generals and politicians down there to steal.
