RE: New purchase today
Well that's why I said you have to take responsibility for any mods you make.

Power tuning can be illegal just as can driving a car on the motorway at over 100 miles per hour.

Then again for a badly looked after airgun can bring it up to legal spec, well just under anyway.

A lot of airguns are left sub legal velocities when imported into the uk, say 10ft/lbs because of the natural variation in manufacturing, so for safety reasons they make them lower powered than nessesary for legal reasons as they dont want to supply illegal firearms by accident.

I also should have mentioned as sd said knowledge is not wrong, neither is sharing that knowledge.
However encouraging somebody to do something illegal is probably in the eyes of the law wrong.

That is why I mentioned that any and all responsibility is on the person who does any modifications.

Just because I know how to make black powder doesn't make me a bad person, however if I decided to make and sell it, then that's a different matter.

Same with any mods on air rifles, just because we discuss it doesn't make it wrong,

Much tuning to air weapons can be done legitimately and safely to "tune" them i.e. smooth the trigger, shorten lock time etc..

I do say and would always say, you should make any mods on an air weapon in conjunction with a chronograph.

If you then find out your mods take it over the legal limit then you and you alone have the choice to decide whether to de tune it, leave it as is and take the risk of being caught with a "firearm" or register it legally etc...

I do fully agree with s.d. that knowledge should remain free and accessible to all unless its of an illegal nature.

Just because I can download and read books on how to make explosives, doesn't mean I will.

Just because I can download books on the revolution in Russia doesn't mean I want to do it...

I saw a quote once, I cant remember exactly what it said but let me give you this one from wiki...

Totalitarianism...Totalitarianism (or totalitarian rule) is a political system where the state holds total authority over the society and seeks to control all aspects of public and private life wherever necessary.

But then again, who is it that decides its illegal in the first place????
