The rice in bags will last as long as the 'best by date' or even longer, but bottling the rice gives you a few more storage options:- space saving, more robust and vermin proof, more portable and you can have a ready measured amount so that you have less wastage.

Also you can save money by buying the massive bag of rice and de-canting it into the smaller bottles.
