in my back garden i have a sewer pipe access hatch cast iron half in thick with a thick brickwall sides and is about 5ft deep would this work ?

or should i just put my phone in and see if it works ?

The emp will just go through the earth and fry your electronics. You need at least 8 ft of earth all around.

I was just going to put my stuff in the microwave in a shoe box, i tried my phone in there and it didnt ring so i thought it would be ok???

i know some people use a microwave as a faraday cage.
If you had nothing else to hand and we got the heads up that an EMP from the sun was coming then most people have excess to a microwave in the home.
I dont know if an EMP could travel down the cable into the microwave.

well ive just tried out a tinfoil faraday cage and it actually worked Big Grin

put my phone in a empty malteasers box and wrapped it twice in tinfoil. no calls made it through Big Grin

OK you protected your phone.

Did anyone remember to place the cell phone tower inside a card board box and wrap it with tin foil?
