there are lots of rip tides and strong currents around the Devon and Cornwall coast, and jumping into a boat is only for people who know what they are doing (I'm sure you know what your doing Dev ) . like I said its about self reliance, like not going into the water if you cant swim, seems obvious but people put themselves at risk every day. we could all get knocked down by a bus tomorrow but if we know the bus timetable we can avoid the collision. what ever someone does they need to know the risks and pitfalls before they do it, dosent apply to the sheeple though, they are not "responsible for their own actions", that's always the job of the emergency services. in the case of this sailor, that's an "extreme sport" and there are always risks with such ventures.
