Interesting chat with a policeman

I agree - its the main reason why , when TSHTF , I see a civil defence force mainly comprised of military ,as the police are so ineffective at anything these days.

maybe in the larger towns and cities you could get ex military to form some sort of "home guard" type operation, those that arent off looking out for themselves and their families that is, the further out you get the less you find people like this.

I used to go to a hardcore bodybuilding gym when I lived up North and I learned something interesting, if you're going to commit a crime, make it a big one, then quit while you're ahead. The simple reasoning was that you're very unlikely to get caught. I was also taught to have friends that would vouch for me under any circumstances. Then I have an alibi as well as enough people to hold up in court. Further to that, if you commit a crime as a group and everyone stays silent, then you're not going to get caught if nobody else sees/records the crime. Crazy hu?!?!?

I've not gone and taken that advice/information. But if you're every going to do anything, now is a good time.

Last time I stopped a crime (a mugging) I got cautioned by the officer to never do it again, because I'll be prosecuted for kicking the poop out of another person, even if they're in the process of breaking the law (yes you heard that right, screw a citizens arrest! If they fight back and you knock them down and give them a kicking, you get locked up!!!) Nowerdays, you're best off just ignoring it.

It's times like this that vigillante style law enforcers (yes, like Batman-style) are needed!

your right Scythe, in the "old" days(back in the mists of time)i would have stepped in and done something if i saw a crime being committed, but these days i'm more inclined to mind my own business and not get involved, its not worth the hassle, especially if i had to defend myself and then get arrested for assault!

Damn right BP!

It's not worth getting involved any more! We, as a society, are being disengaged from social interaction with those we our fellow man. People are no longer able to defend themselves. We are no longer allowed to defend each other, our homes, our property, out friends, our families.

In America they have The Bill of Rights. Even though their bill is being broken appart, it is still an outline of what we should look at for our own lives. One of the items is the right to protect/defend yourself.

We are no longer allowed to do that, legally!

The worst thing is, the person you protected yourself from, or protected someone else from, will be the only one in the situation that will press charges. They know you won't get locked up, but that also know it will cost you LOADS in legal fees. If you protect yourself, one of 2 things will happen. Either you'll get your arse kicked, but hey, at least you tried to help yourself. Or, you'll do well, win the fight, successfully defend yourself, then get nicked by plod. Once you're nicked, you'll be faced with either a fine, community service, cell time, prison time, or something like that. The rest of the time, the original criminal is out and about free as a bird!

This situation sucks!!!

the thing that gets me is that any criminal, arrested for a crime who injured themselves in the execution of that crime( say the poor dear cut themselves on the glass in the window they broke to get in) can claim compensation from the house or business owner!!!!

The reason we cannot legally put up barbed wire is exactly for that reason BP. A crim got injured on barbed wire, while trying to break into someone's home, and they sued the person with the barbed wire! Then B-W became illegal with the basis for the argument being this legal case! The same is true with having broken glass on top of a wall! It's illegal because it's injured a crim!

The more I think about this kind of thing, the less I feel locking my front door is of benefit to me haha. Some crim might sprain his ankle trying to kick the door down.

yes, that was the kind of case i was referring to. i hope some crim dosent get in front of me while i am doing my target practise!

Ah, sod it. I'm installing carpet grippers on my fence at the weekend, so any little scrote that tries to climb over will get a pleasant surprise. Also going to pimp up my shed security - I think I'm going to take up fishing again, so I'll need some of those multi-point hooks. May just hang them about face height inside my shed, right above the door...

They do a smiliar thing with securing drug fields. They attach razor blades to plants near the fields. They also use hooks and things like that. It's a really aggressive way to defend what you have, but why not?!?!?!?

Forgot to add, they'd poison the blades and get them infected with HIV or something like that.

Really nasty to get a scratch or a blade in the eye!
