Anyone dropped SKY for Freeview etc?

Has anyone tried Freesat? I assume it is not the same as Freeview. I have heard its quite good. A mate has it and says he gets about 80 channels. It cost a one off payment of less than £100 when he got it and that was the full installation and box. He has it in two rooms.

Isn't freesat pretty much the same as freeview but received by a dish instead of an aerial?
