Thanks, I saw this beat last night, awesome bit of kit, to pricey for moi though, so i think I will look for somefink without thev 10 meter bit, must be cheaper . BTW I really appreciate the effort you are making, it wont be forgotten.
See BP for your pay, He's just nipped out to put his basque and makeup on.

RE: RADIO COMMS
Lightspeed thats a nice piece of kit but £250 is a bit more than some people will want to pay, especially as being dispersed there might not be another prepper in range!
Can you recommend an "entry level" (a.k.a. 'cheap') piece of kit?

RE: RADIO COMMS
What about the taxi radio system? They've got quite a range on them, and kick out 25w.

RE: RADIO COMMS

I was just rising to NR's challenge....
I'm not an expert on CB at all. you are right that cost is very important.
Thesre's an old Midland hand portable unit that's very interesting and still comes up on e-bay from time to time. Thes sell for around GBP 50.00 for a good one with carry case, nicad holder and telescopic antennas. See a pic of a tatty version of the rig itself here
http://radiopics.com/CB_Radio/UK%20CB%20...77-104.htm
Also there are a whole host of handheld multi-format FM only devices available for around GBP 100. Just do a CB portable search on e-bay to see the diversity.
Hope this helps

RE: RADIO COMMS
Hey guys I May be onto something, I did more digging on this INTEK H520 , its supposedly the best selling handset in the UK for CB and I think I know why.
Its multi channel multi NATIONAL configeration means that as well as doing 26 to 28 mhz, apparent it also does the 28 to 30 mhz of the amatuer 10 meter band cos that ( I think ) is what the poles and ruskies use.
I've just ordered one!!!
