RE: I'm Done.
Yes I've been particularly outspoken today and pointed out what I saw as injustices to younger members, if some of you aren't bothered by some of the way people reply to posts on here than that's no problem.
I can just see the forum going down a path that I don't like just as Tof said in her post.
So I feel the need to speak out also as you've quite rightly said I can do so.
I don't want anybody to be personally insulted by what I've written today, just have a look at yourself and if the shoe of intolerance fits maybe have a look at yourself, me included there is a difference in disagreeing vehemently and just being nasty for the fun of it.
THE END.

RE: I'm Done.
I know what SDs response will be and I 100% support him whatever he decides, BUT if I had my way there would be no conspiracy theorys on this forum, UNLESS everyone voted democratically to go that route ??

RE: I'm Done.
Well NR is this what you were expecting.
1) I don't like the conspiracy/humour and other type posts that are not prepping related. I would prefer an all prepping site.
2) Prepping is different things to people. I've posted myself on music and other hobbies so there are some posts I can see touching on prepping although it is a tenuous link.
3) I may take feedback but it isn't a democracy. In the end it is my decision.
4) I created a conspiracy news thread to allow the conspiracy threads somewhere to live.
5) We are all adults here and talking about serious stuff. A few swear words is not unexpected.
6) We should just ignore the threads we don't like, I do, and I don't see what the problem is. If you did too then they would stop but they are responded to and thus encouraged.
7) We do go off on tangents quite a bit. It is annoying and I try and ignore them. If you did too then they would stop but they are responded to and thus encouraged.
8) I'm here to learn. WHile I'm doing so I'll put up with a bit of stupidity. When I stop learning I'll look at another way to learn and I'll go and set that up.
9) I don't have the time to go around checking everything that everybody writes. If it is really bad then I will sort it out. If not then I'll leave it and mayby make a comment.
So it is up to you. DOn't like the conspiracy stuff then stop commenting on it, Want to see more prepping stuff, comment in there and get involved.
Someone writes something you don't like, Get back with a reasoned case and make your statement. That way we can make up our own minds.
Easy.

RE: I'm Done.
well as i was typing SD said alot of what i was thinking! whilst i dont think that theres no place for fun, after all we're a community here, there are many websites dedicated to pure knowledge, but we are not just for the knowledge but to meet and socialise with like minded individuals and share tips related to our specific country.
if i see a topic i dont like, i ignore it, i think almost everything that comes from pakalert is bollocks, hence why i dont comment, i could rant on the subject, but i shant
also i feel we wouldnt go off on tangents quite as much if there was more social area to the website. since there is a conspiracy section i think all conspiracy related topics should be placed there!...if its in the wrong place, move it, nice n simple
but yes as SD said, its not a democracy, we're all here on SD's grace.

RE: I'm Done.
"Conspiracy theorists" is a broad term that can cover a lot of wild and opposite views. If you think the world is exactly as the media says, I would ask what are you even on a preparedness forum for... Survivalists are by definition contrarian and are, in my experience at least, generally well informed about what's really going on in the world. Personally, I believe time is running out in advance of horrific world events so I usually don't bother quoting extensive references to back up my points; if people don't "get it" now, they're probably too late to persuade / educate and are out of place on a survivalist site.

Long drawn out reply written then deleted,
a pointless exercise how does one provide a REASONED case to an issue based on hype, hysteria, mania, psychosis, tittle tattle etc .
2nd expanded reply also deleted cos it dawned on me it doesnt matter what I think the rules are in place.

They are the ones you ignore. The reasoned argument is why you like bows while other like crossbows.

RE: I'm Done.
The swearing issue is actually quite important. An occasional swear word or mild expletives are not really going to cause any problem, but posts that contain quite a bit of swearing, as seems to be more common lately, will in fact cause offence to some and to others will cause them to cease pursueing that line of post. Also as this is a public open site, then it is not really acceptable to have more than a minor amount of swearing visible to all & sundry who may read the posts inc children. I understand that to some it is a part of their everyday life and that is understandable. What I would like to say to them, is that if they wish to interact & communicate in a wider community, then thay should accept that a level of tolerance for each others views is taken by all participants. It is usual practice that social gatherings (on line or off it) are carried out without performing actions that could cause offence or discomfort for others. Swearing has always been identified as being a possible cause of discomfort within this social context, while at the same time also being acceptable in certain aspects of a local community or workplace environment. Seeing as this forum is more of a national dispersed research resource with an acedemic learning slant, then it falls into the former category and forum members should be considerate enough to keep in check the amount of swearing they post. Regards, TL.

RE: I'm Done.
Totally agree with you TL.
Although I've let loose on occasion if my gander is up so I'm no innocent.
I'd like to think that we could get away from swearing but due to our enforced liberal values, it's normal to hear it. Not so sure why folk get a rise out of writing it though.
All social and educational strata have an element of verbal filth.
I occasionly deal with the well off, toffs, and beggers.
The worst of them for bad language? Definitely the toffs.

I know I'm a bit late but I'm sorry to see you leave TOF and I wish you good luck with your prepping in the future
Do not rush to meet Death, he may not wish to see you.
