PS BP don't bother buying any rail lube for it as it is overpriced bollocks, just use a little bit of vaseline on the rail. I would put some in the cocking slots on the sides where the cocking arms run as well.

thanks, we've got a bloody great jar of that somewhere. i cant use it yet until i've got some kind of backstop, if i fire it at our back fence it'll probably go straight through into next doors garden!!

I have used vaseline for ages on rails etc and I have never had any problems at all, I even lube the string serving a little with it but not too much. No doubt there will be some reason not to use it, but I bet that is to get you to buy the string lube (suspicious sod I am)
