Well, we dont feel as mad as we once did, we used to be isolated within friends and family, but our kids know what we do, and have not shunned us yet, and have even made a few suggestions,... but they have not yet got as far as being preppers themselves,..

...we have our son and family visiting us tomorrow, we will have to try and show how sane we really are...lol

Some great replies here, it shows me that the forum is frequented by totally sane, capable and responsible folks.

I see the world around me and I see that it's very fragile so to sit around and do nothing is not an option.

On a final note, I'm really pleased I found this site and joined, it's refreshing to share with like minded people!

Hi everyone, new to the forum but I find your comments interesting don't you think we should be chatting more to each other instead of trying to convert the non believers. For example I'm from the lake district if anyone's close by and is interested in forming cells rather than us trying to go it alone get in touch. I feel we would stand more of a chance if we build small communities and and maybe keep in touch with other cells close by to trade etc. Well enough of my rambling if you think I'm a fool feel free to say so we're all entitled to our opinions.

You fool. Haha, I'm kidding mate. It's very true, we do need to chat to each other more. The Scotland section seems to be really meeting well and sorting things out. Down in the South West we are having a meet. So far I've met about 10 people from the site, and a couple not from it. We're all building our plans together, but helping each other as individuals too.

One of the basic ideas is that we need to look out for ourselves first. You can't work in a group if you're dead. Team work is only worth it if you're alive long enough to get to the group. Once you've sorted the majority of your needs, or your specialisations (like an awesome medical kit for a doctor, and some basic preps) then team work can really come into play. But yes, you're right.

Talking to the family is just a way to try and build quick allegiances with those you interact with, daily. What better group to start with than those you live with?

This game is about 2 things, as I see it. Looking after those people you love, and looking after those people whom will also look after you. I look after my wife and support her, just as she looks after me. At the same time, I will look after Breadyman, because he will be able to help me out too. Same as I-K-E, he has a family, so I will look after him. I have a smaller family, and so I share his passion to protect those he cares about. I believe I-K-E is the kind of guy who would die to protect my family, so we would do the same for him. Same as with SD and quite a few others I've met. There are people I've not met, but I do trust, while there are others I do not trust.

Meeting and interacting is what changes a name into face, a face into a person, a person into a friend, a friend into family.

Thanks scythe I appreciate and agree with your comments.My posting was really a way of introducing myself and my feelings and ideas I hope I can be a help on the forum and meet people up this way to.
