there is a little know fact that vets and some farmers are still allowed large calibre pistols for human dispatching of large animal when a rifle or shotgun can not easily be carried or used , but believe me the applying for one is a complicated and length process and the controls on them are very strict indeed , ammo is limited to 20 rounds both possess or purchase

Yes , I know a chap who has an unrestricted .357 (6 shot) revolver for humane dispatch whilst deer stalking, he limited to 20 round on that.

He also has a underlever rifle in .357 for which he is allowed to possess 500 rounds.

The all round preppers friend in my opinion. dual calibre, short & light weapon - also accurate with iron sites out to a decent range. magazine holds plenty and easy to reload your own & with minimal cost. Rugged & reliable and short enough for more confined space work and carry options. Ammo is small & light enough to carry plenty if necessary. Reaches far further & Punches a lot harder than the equivalent calibre pistol. Can be used for hunting, especially with light loads of the .38special. A good compromise general use weapon with little to fault for that fact.

Agree on utility of. 38 Special in a rifle. I think the closest thing in modern era to a rook rifle. Ordinary target wadcutters give very mild report and energy approximating +P fired from a revolver. The modern poacher's pet!

I loved mine....placed in the top 3 of our underlever comp everytime i entered....full elevation on iron sights out to 100m for .38 spl and same worked for .357 at 200m wish i still had it.

This is my old Winchester94 AE "Trailsend" 20 inch barrel 10+1 in .38 spl and 9+1 in .357 mag......this rifle and an S&W revolver in the same calibre would be awesome.
