When looking for a new home and wanting a permanent base, the fact that this place had its own well was not lost on me.... Neither was the fact that as no piped gas is available in our fairly remote village, there are large numbers of domestic oil tanks in gardens, and excellent organic filtration could be performed "under the radar"

They are useful as long as you follow "the rules" and make sure a MIllbank bag is thoroughly wetted before using the water that drips through. As a fail safe I would also be tempted to add a tablet or two of the purifying pills though the taste of chlorine reminds you of drinking a swimming pool!!
