RE: Superbugs arise
Aloavera is easy to grow, the plant produces a large mass of leaves and it is excellent for healing skin damage. I am sure it has many other uses as well.

Two "yucky" examples of high sugar fixes for you.

An expedition medic told me that he had once used boiled golden syrup (Tate & Lyle sort of thing) when a guy picked up an infection in a leg ulcer which antibiotics wouldn't touch.
Two weeks later and the ulcer was bug free and healing well.

He also told me about a case where an infected bullet wound was "cured" because of maggots. They eat the bad stuff and were washed out (with alcohol) when pain started again i.e. they started to eat good flesh. The hole was then packed with sugar 3 times a day. 1 month later, large scar but all healed.

Got to love these field recipes for when all else fails.
