RE: hunter gatherer clue to obesity.
Peoplw who are skinny now would be clinically anorexic on a hunter gatherer diet.

People who are heavily built, verging on overweight now would most likely be in good shape on a hunter gatherer diet.

people who are overweight/big now on a modern diet, would probably be a well built, solid proposition.

Take away the modern diet with all its additives etc and the majorities sedentary lifestyle, then the metabolic rate of individuals, combined with calorie intake & daily exercise, would result in a very different picture of apparent health. Those skinny fast metabolic folks now, would be undernourished and weaker as a result.

Having some fat reserves, whilst being cardio fit gives the highest mean long term survival prospect weighed against negative issues of diet & temperature. Of course that is just average statistics and not correct for each individual scenario.

A point well made TL . But it depends on the reason the person is skinny now, maybe they eat well and take regular exercise and because of this their weight is low! It's true that the skinny ones will suffer most after an event because they have no reserves to burn up, but if there food intake is already low then they wont suffer that much because the change in diet and exertion will be very small.

Did that make sense??

i read somewhere that if your body dosent have enough fat reserves it literally starts eating the lining of your stomach in starvation situations, one up for the fatties??P

Age, weight, health and your ability is what matters; if you’re fat or skinny and unhealthy/medical condition then you’re pretty much screwed, unless you have an ability that can offer protection, against the previous.

Your stomach is basically a big furnace. Food goes in and is digested by acid.

No matter how fat you are if no food goes in the acid works on something. So if you don't eat for a while your stomach consumes itself after a while. Not sure of the time, two/three weeks or so.
