RE: Lots of forum jumping going on !
When I look around the forums I visit or have visited, the only ones that have had any religious over or undertones in any of the posts have been on survival / prepping forums. Have to say, I have seen very little of it here other than some one saying they are a pagan, some one a christian, etcetera - on another site I see 'only good Muslim is a dead one' and 'the bible says Christians are the same as Jews so lets support Israel and bomb Iran'. I don't know, maybe it is moderated off the boards before I see it. When one person uses their religion - which is not based in anything provable or scientific - to attack the viewpoint of another, well, that's when you can leave your religion at the door.

Politics - well, if it comes up in the news forum or the general discussion forum and some one is making an argument that has some substance behind it and can be backed up and someone is offended, in my opinion, sucks to be them. I find the idea of creating a prepping network, having meets and so on with some one who gets offended at facts and logic as crazy.

People using politics to attack others? Well, the idea of a prepping socialist is alien to me, unless they are hoarding pamphlets, public enquiries, focus groups and lots of other peoples money to look after everyone else. If it is a problem that I sometimes present the whole as a dichotomy to highlight absurdity, I have no problem with that. Dichotomise that.

I think if people are going to get together to share skills, a bit of verbal sparing does not hurt so much as long as it is relevant. After all, better you find out you have a personality clash here than when you have decided as a group to play 'Lets get dropped of in the wilds together and make our own way back' or 'How to get a knife razor sharp?'.

Overall, I would say join a forum, if some one finds reason to question your belief either tell them you do not feel it relevant to discuss or present your case.

Do we choose to put our heads in the sand? Do we choose to reflect society and how works here? I don't know, I landed here a couple of weeks ago, made a couple of decent posts and probably rubbed like sand paper in some others.

"the idea of a prepping socialist is alien to me"

It TOTALLY baffles me so to play safe I go out of my way to make sure theres none in my group, otherwise I dont mind anyone political beliefs, but as soon as the socialists start talking committees, redistributing wealth, each according to their need, taxing those who got rich etc I most certainly dont want them destabilising the entire pysche of my group which is founded on self reliance, self determination, self help etc.

Though if a cluster of socialists choose to form a cooperative made up of voluntary members I fully support them, no one should be forced to fund or subsidise others thats just theft or fraud, but if all give willingly then good luck to them.
