RE: Leaving UK
Been there, done that. We lived in France for over 8 years. It's a lovely country and, as BP says, very much like the UK was many years ago. It does have problems though, and of course there are the French!

RE: Leaving UK
Currently looking at 2 places.

Southern Italy. The wife loved it and would be VERY HAPPY if I got us a BOL over there. She said she wouldn't mind us going over there often to stock it up.

Other place is French Pyrenees, where we've found some nice looking places, but the property ownership laws in France don't suit our needs. Still checking the laws in SI though.

RE: Leaving UK
one of the problems of going to foreign country is that if you do stumble upon others or get unexpected visitors. you will have a language barrier and that in itself could leed to a violent situation.
hungry cold people don't have much patience to wave in hand signals and gestures trying to communicate.

anyone considering the outher country route should consider learning the language now.
it would help them a lot. especeially in an emergency where it could be them requiring the help.

they probably wouldn't help a foreigner that didn't speak the language , but might one that does.

RE: Leaving UK
trouble with going to another country is you will always be the stranger, in a SHTF situation it'll be " lets go and rob that foreigner/english person that lives down the road"!

Odd thing is that I belong to several world wide outdoor forums and we are constantly having folk from all the areas you wish to escape too wishing to leave their homeland.

Most are looking for exactly the discriptive life spoken of in this thread and can not find it in their homelands.

Thing is, a looser is a looser anywhere he lays his head.

Successful, comfortable people seldom leave where they are.

Mass migrations are a different thing. Entire groups and populations moving as a group or in waves of transit. Mass migrations are responsible for the present world population distribution, usually in a search for food.

We will never know how many wars and how much death has been prevented by scientific agriculture and the GM products everyone rants over.

Even if some sort of black magic managed to get N. Korea's nukes of the ground they haven't really got the numbers or the power to destroy the USA. even then i doubt they would go for nowheresville ohio.

RE: Leaving UK
why dose a white man survive in the african bush while the blackman starves with his children???/?????? no education. mr black man has been tought to look for help rather than to look for tracks, he's learnt to live in communitys and been told that its bad to damage the land and that to survive he must stay in the areas of mass control. mr white man has the education to stay away from the masses of control, to look for tracks in the wild to find food and to use a knife to hunt game and water. miss information has killed more blacks than bullets. back to the westerner with all the land, money, kit gear ect, who complains he cant. wonder why.......
he never planned to fail, he just failed to plan. like lambs to the slaughter the wolfs look down from the hill tops. we are those wolfs!!!
