RE: Butter / Ghee
MMM that Asda one is cheap.

One of the problems is shelf life. My one gives May 2014 which is about 1 year.

Maybe my eyes were bigger than my stomach.

What's a poor girl to do with a kilo of ghee? All suggestions accepted as long as they are clean :-)

....but wouldn't it then have to be pressurised after?

Thank you RS a good find
As long as it is piping hot you don't have to pressurise at all just pour into suitable containers and seal. If your Ghee is going out of date it is still safe, just re-heat till hot and seal again you will not get any bacteria if hot enough. The Indians reckon ghee matures with age and gets better anyway.

Thanks TH,... now let me get this right, Ghee in the first place is only butter that has been melted to a liquid and left to harden again,..is that right

I think you melt and heat to remove water and when pouring you filter to remove solids

That's it, butter with the solids removed leaving a clear fat.
