Aussie and Kiwi take on prepping.

RE: Aussie and Kiwi take on prepping.
I follow a few Aussie greenies' blogs about people moving off the grid, in preparation for peak oil.
While I've found most preppers don't profess to like greenies, and most greenies would hate to be called a prepper due to the right-wing gun-nut stereotype that goes with the word, many of these people have the same ideas as preppers do, and are actively preparing for collapse due to environmental changes.

I have a feeling that prepping is going a little more mainstream in Aus and NZ too, due to the effects of the earthquakes in NZ and bushfires in Aus. In fact, the Australian ABC (BBC equivalent) has done a few stories recently which were basically about prepping, although just not called that.
eg. This link shows two 'ordinary' couples having to deal with a bushfire and cyclone: http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/dontpanic.htm with the slogan "don't panic, get prepared".
