To be honest...how any individual prepares and prioritises their needs is truly their affair ....not withstanding the basics which MUST be covered FIRST ! so what are the basics ? .....when ever precious metals are mentioned on this forum there are conflicting views ...that's fair enough as MB eludes too ...if you hold coinage ....it would most likely determine a set price based on coin amounts (and not the coins true value) .....but as Pete also eludes too (i think) is the fact that gold,silver is a store of wealth , something to hold until such time it can realise true value (as it has for thousands of years) there will ALWAYS be a market for metals .....i think its an excellent hedge .....most people would trade trinkets initially anyway .....rings watches bracelets pendants.....coins or bars would be the last thing you would part with .
