RE: Heat Exchangers

isnt this the one where you have a big metal unit outside your home and its very very noisy??
dont think the wife or I could put up with the noise if this is the case.

RE: Heat Exchangers
It depends on your environment. I've read about people with heat exchangers having to have a secondary way of heating.

It is like everything else in life. It will suit some people and locations but not all yet our simple minded government who loves to control everything think something suitable for London should be forced on those in the North of Scotland.

Heat Exchangers are not suitable for where I live and at 14K a pop it's just an expensive way to get hypothermia and die. As per our masters plan of course.

Really SD, TPTB know they can never freeze all of you to death!

After all, 20% of your population grew up with their main heat source being burning dried camel dung in a hole in the middle of the floor.

That bunch will always survive.

It is the local natives that will perish due to not knowing how to lay and light a fire.

that last bit is very true, its only us oldies that as a kid one of our chores was to clean out the fireplace and relay the fire, most houses in the UK now are all electric, even if they have gas central heating the controls are electric .

now that is true Pete, probably the only place you will find it in the UK is in a zoo.

You know what I mean Pete.

These are the people that will use six bricks to make a platform, rip up the baseboards for fuel and build a fire in the kitchen sink!

Then they will take a glass bottle, put a string wick in it, fill it with perfin and make a lamp.

They grew up doing what the first world forgot was possible.

When you see that 20% of the population of UK was born off the island that does not mean that they were all from Canada, Australia or NZ.

You have a substantial number that grew up in the third world where what we call hard core survival is the norm. They came to the UK because SHTF was their existence.

That phantasy 90% die off rate never includes that 20% of the population that already went through much worse than most can imagine.

RE: Heat Exchangers
That is where you are wrong MB. That 90% die off will include many of those because they have chosen to live in big cities and while we are dying we will take many off them with us.

However, I do agree with you. Percentage wise they will make up a big proportion of the surviving 10% as there are many communities around the UK with a >50% number of these. We won't get the chance to bring them down. Meanwhile out in the rest of the country there are only a few of them.

RE: Heat Exchangers
Yes MB i know who and what you mean, hundreds come across the Channel every day.

As for heat exchangers/pumps, in the Times today.....

1) According to the CE of National Gas, only the “privileged” can afford heat pumps.

“You got to have really good quality insulation before you can start to electrify
before the cost becomes exorbitant. Heat pumps can never be the option for
all households. We need a joined-up system. You cannot “electrify everything
when the wind doesn’t blow you need gas”

He believes in about 10 years we could be running modified gas boilers with hydrogen
with no emissions, does anyone remember when they changed everything from
coal gas to north sea (petroleum) gas.

2) One of Scotland’s leading suppliers of heat pumps admitted they are not suitable
for the scottish climate as they can stop working below -5C.
