Grenfell Tower Fire

I am shocked that high-rise multi-family residential buildings in UK aren't required to be fully sprinklered as they are in the US. Also amazed that outer building covering apparently contained combustible materials and was not "fire-stopped" between floors. The speed at which the fire spread through chimney effect is almost beyond belief.

I would expect this sort of tragedy in China or the former Soviet Union, but not UK.

Let's hope there is a thorough investigation and that fire codes are revised to modern standards and strictly enforced.
